RUBs Magazine - Mission

The pendulum of the mainstream, or rather what is outside of it, has swung so far that even badboy bikers (yawn) have come to be trite.  The biker of the past could tattoo, drink, and pillage his way into the lifestyle, but what does that mean?  Is it so necessary to be so unlike everybody else that one must (!) run out and get the leather jacket and remove the mirrors from his handlebars to show the world how dangerous he is?  We don’t think so.  We created RUBs for those of us that love the feeling of the open road, but still need to be at work on Monday.  Or report to investors, patients, clients, or she who was once called “my old lady” (but is now called “Poopums”).

Specifically, a RUB is a Rich Urban Biker.  This has been a name, not so affectionately, attributed to those of us that do not fit  the Biker stereotypes by those that have managed to tattoo their way into what they think a biker is.  A RUB is anybody that rides on the weekends, but does not adhere to any of the biker anthems.  We rather enjoy piece, sobriety, a game of softball, and a shirt that does not smell like Lucky Strikes.  We have taken the name RUBs and held it close to our heart, our little way of flashing a little middle finger to “the man.”  So take that Bear, Tiny, Stinky and Doc.  That which we love cannot hurt us.  RUBs Magazine represents a biker lifestyle that is so against the norms, that I’ll have a light beer and maybe a rice cake.  Or maybe I won’t – but I could if I wanted to.
